Massage Therapy, or Swedish massage as it is also known, is the most popular form of massage therapy in America. There’s nothing like a little massage therapy to help smooth away the troubles of the day, the aches and pains of life . . . just lie back and relax as the massage therapist expertly kneads your tired muscles using long, smooth strokes with that sweet smelling massage lotion or a little oil . . . note to self – book massage therapy session very soon!

Massage therapy works by bringing oxygen as well as other nutrients to your body tissues, improving circulation, relieving pain, clearing the lactic acid and other “nasties”, helping to reduce stiffness in joints . . . overall increasing your mobility and flexibility.

Why Do People Get Massage Therapy

Okay, just in case I haven’t given you enough reasons already (“what do you mean you can’t fit me in until Thursday . . . I need a little massage therapy NOW) – here are a few of the reasons why people get massage therapy.

  • Massage therapy can help inflammatory conditions like tendinitis and arthritis.
  • Massage therapy can help to relieve back pain.
  • Massage therapy can offer stress relief and help with stress related conditions.
  • Massage therapy can help with repetitive strain injuries like carpal tunnel syndrome.
  • Massage therapy can help with respiratory and circulatory problems.
  • Massage therapy can help with rehabilitation after injury or surgery.
  • Massage therapy can help with muscle related conditions like sprains, strains and spasms
  • Massage therapy is a great way to pamper yourself once in a while . . . it just feels good!

Oh, and one last thing in case you were wondering, in North America you will be asked to undress, but you’ll be in private, (many people choose to keep their underwear on) and only the parts of the body which are being massaged will be shown, the rest of you will be hidden beneath a sheet. Yes, that dude up the road is a perv, not a massage therapist!

I challenge you to watch this entire 8 minutes or so without going to sleep . . . or booking your own massage therapy session.
